I’m Lam Nghiem, and my story begins in a small rural town in central California. Being one of few second generation Vietnamese-Americans in my town, I learned to value the unique heritage and culture I came from. My beliefs in family and community come from my Vietnamese background, and my values in hard work and individualism come from growing up American. Both are sides that make me who I am today. In my day to day, I love spending time with my pets and exploring my hobbies, such as crocheting, baking, and video games.

In terms of my career goals and passions, I’m currently an aspiring product designer specializing in UX and UI. My favorite part of any project is hearing the stories of the people I get to meet because I believe that being empathetic and considerate is the first step toward any design. Without truly understanding the people and the problem at hand a design can only do so much. These values also extend to the project teams I’m in! When working in a team, I always try to uphold a sense of community and make sure everyone on the team feels heard and supported. Ultimately, I take every project I’ve been honored to be apart of as a great learning experience. I hope the valuable lessons in each of the projects on my portfolio are as meaningful to you as they have been for me.
